A:M Lawyers – Terms & conditions

1. Company

A:M Lawyers (BV Andy Matthijs) is a civil company in the form of a private limited liability company (BV) under Belgian law. Its sole purpose is the practice of the legal profession. Our lawyers are registered with the Antwerp Bar Association, Bolivarplaats 20, 2000 Antwerp.

2. Scope

These terms and conditions apply to all services provided by A:M Lawyers, its partners, associates, and staff.

3. Professional liability

The liability of A:M Lawyers, its partners and associates is limited to the amount paid out under the collective professional liability insurance subscribed by the Order of Flemish Bars with Ethias (policy number 0165). In the event of a covered claim, liability is therefore always limited to the amount paid by the insurer.

4. Fees and expenses

Our fees are exclusive of VAT. Advance payments and invoices for fees and expenses are payable within 30 days of the invoice date. In the event of late payment, default interest of 10% on the outstanding amount is due by operation of law and without prior notice, together with a fixed administrative charge of 10%, with a minimum of EUR 50.

5. Anti-money laundering legislation

A:M Lawyers is subject to Belgian anti-money laundering legislation. In this context, we are required to request and, where appropriate, report certain information to the President of the Bar or the Belgian Financial Intelligence Processing Unit (CFI).

6. Applicable law and jurisdiction

These terms and conditions and all resulting assignments are governed exclusively by Belgian law. Disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the judicial district of Antwerp.
